Comme Un Garcon - Arvaathan ken

Ann Christine strated recording in 1962 and in 1968 she released already her 16th single. On the B-side was this "Arvaathan ken" (Guess who). The song was arranged, and the backing orchestra conducted, by Aarne Raninen. The original song was called "Comme Un Garcon" (Like a boy) and it was a hit in 1967 for famous French singer Sylvie Vartan. The lyrics of the song tell how the she acts like a boy, but when she is with her boyfriend she acts a like a little girl. You can see Sylvie perform it, here.

A Long Time Comin' - Liian monta päivää

Well, it's been a long time coming, but now meet Ann Christine (see earlier entry) again. She was most active musically in the mid-60's but made some records later, too. In 1969 she joined forces with Ulla & Tiina, who were a vocal duo that consisted of twins Ulla and Christina Rif. They recorded a single on whose B-side was this "Liian monta päivää" (Too many days). The song was not a success, nor was the A-side. The original was written and performed by Ellie Greenwich. Ellie was a famous songwriter who together with her husband and songwriting partner Jeff Barry wrote numerous hits for other artists. But she also released some records as a solo artist. This "A Long Time Comin'" was from the first ("Composes, Produces & Sings" in 1968) of her two albums.

I'm the lonely one - Olen yksinäinen

Ann Christine released "Olen yksinäinen" (I'm lonely) in 1964 on the flip side of a former Finnpick "Odota en" (see previous entry). The tune has become very popular and versioned many times since. The original song was performed by Cliff Richard. "I'm The Lonely One" gave Cliff a Top 10 success in 1964. Gordon Mills, songwriter and later also succesful manager, wrote the song.

Quando vedrai la mia ragazza - Odota en

Ann Christine (real name Ann-Christine Nyström) was perhaps the first Finnish female modern pop singer. Her contemporaries in the start of 1960's were singing mostly 'schlagers'. But Ann Christine was a real pop girl - a 'ye-ye girl' - if you like. She recorded this "Odota en" (I will not wait) in 1964 as a b-side of her 6th single. She performed on the Eurovision contest in 1966 in Luxemborg with the song "Playboy". The original song was (again) from San Remo music festival. In 1964 festival the song "Quando vedrai la mia ragazza" (When you see my girl) was performed by Little Tony and Gene Pitney. As we already have presented Little Tony earlier, let's now listen to Gene.
