Another Funny Honeymoon - Ei musta hullu tullutkaan

Juhamatti (real name Jussi Mäkelä) (see earlier entry) recorded "Ei musta hullu tullutkaan" (I didn't go crazy after all) in 1978 for his album "Fanny Fanny". The Finnish lyrics were written by Pertsa Reponen. The song remained only an album track. The original song was called "Another Funny Honeymoon" and was written and performed by British singer and songwriter Dave Dundas. It became his second, lesser hit, after the biggie "Jeans On" (finnpicked, see here) in 1977. The record was produced by our old friend Roger Greenaway. You can see Dave perform the song, here.

The Sea-Fare Folk - Hei oo mennään taas

Juhamatti (see earlier entry) recorded this catchy disco romp "Hei oo mennään taas" in 1980 to the lyrics of Raul Reiman. It was released as a single and was a minor hit. The song uses (as does the original) extracts from the familiar song "Drunken Sailor". The original song was a 1979 disco hit from Germany, titled "The Sea-Fare Folk". It was performed by Cherry Laine and written by her producer Bernt Möhrle. We have presented the works of this couple before, here and here.

Fanny Fanny - Fanny Fanny

This is the third (and final, for now) entry in our Finnpicks series of songs with titles of doubled female names. Juhamatti (real name Jussi Mäkelä) was at the peak of his popularity in the 80's. earning 4 gold records during that decade. In the 1977 he recorded his first great hit "Fanny Fanny". The original song was written and performed by Frederic Francois (real name Francesco Barracatto). He was born in Sicily, but soon emigrated in Belgium with his family. He started his first band at the age of 12, but he made his real debut in 1969 when recording whith his new nickname (taken from Fredric-Francois Chopin, I guess). Frederic had a charismatical success in France, but also in Canada, Belgium and the Switzerland. The name of Frederic Francois might be mostly related to the 70’s decade, he still has a great fame and success especially among the French music listeners.
